Landscape Designer

Reports To:

Landscape Operations Director

 

Position Summary:

Responding to generated sales leads, this position will meet with customer prospects to develop, create and propose a landscape installation project concept, utilizing various hardscape and landscape resources. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review and acknowledge generated sales leads.

  • Contact and schedule sales lead appointments with customers.  

  • Ensure effective time management practices during all phases of the installation design project plan process.

  • Meet with customers to review their landscape vision and conduct site inspection, including property measurements, topographical grade, soil condition, current landscape and hardscape presence.

  • Utilizing computer assisted software, create proposed landscape design options, to include perennial and annual plants, shrubs, trees, and hardscape products, detailing proposed products and project cost estimates.

  • Utilizing various professional presentation tools, review with the customer their landscape design options, providing recommendations and responding to their questions regarding proposed project specifics.

  • Close and write landscape installation agreements, coordinating with managers, vendors and the customer installation timetables.

  • Coordinate with the Landscape Installation teams any modification of the project package and provide site visit consultations, as needed.

  • Conduct post-installation survey to ensure customer satisfaction. 

  • Communicate with and notify Landscape office personnel of all related paperwork to be filed with the respective landscape project, ensuring timely and accurate information. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong horticulture expertise in plant identification and applicable use in landscape designs.

  • Strong verbal & written communications skills. 

  • Experienced in sales presentations and proven success in closing contract agreements.

  • Working knowledge of scaled drawings and digital imagery.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural site plans, diagrams and schematics.

  • Strong math and geometric concepts.

  • Knowledge and identification of annual and perennials plants, shrubs, evergreens, trees and their cultural requirements 

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task. 

  • Ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 pounds.

     

Qualification:

  • At least 2 years undergraduate studies (Associates Degree) preferred

  • 2+ years related experience (preferred)

  • Combination of educational and related work experience

  • 2 years horticultural experience (preferred)

  • Certification in landscape design (preferred)

  • At least one year of demonstrated sales success (preferred)

  • Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record (preferred)

 

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to outdoor climate conditions and moderate noise.

  • Constant standing, bending, walking and lifting.
