Good Golly Miss Molly


Our Plant of the Week is the gorgeous Miss Molly Summer Lilac. Also known as Buddleia or Butterfly Bush, this plant pushes the color spectrum with blooms boasting rich hues of dark sangria-red. Flowers will appear from June until frost. To encourage re-blooming, deadhead the spent blooms. This beauty is nice and neat with compact branching. And, is a fast grower reaching 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. It prefers well-drained soil and can even tolerant drought once established. Prune in late fall or early spring for best results. It is sterile and will not produce unwanted seedlings like some of the other Buddleias. Other non-seeding cultivars include ‘Blue Chip’, ‘Purple Haze’, ‘Miss Ruby’ and ‘Asian Moon’. Butterfly Bush is top butterfly attractor and appeals to many different types. Bring butterflies to your garden with this summer stellar!

Pack a Punch with the Knock Out

Pack a Punch in your garden with easy to grow Knock Out Roses. This stunning shrub rose has great disease resistance with little to no maintenance required. The blooms range from cherry red to bubblegum pink to sunny yellow and will bloom repeatedly until the first hard frost. What’s not to love!

No need to deadhead this beauty, it is self-cleaning. Plant in full sun for vibrant color all summer long. It will grow to be about 3-4 feet wide and 3-4 feet tall. Try planting Knock Outs in containers or in the landscape. This garden treasure is mother approved and is a great choice for Mom!
