"This is my first vegetable garden and I need a little help. I planted green, red and yellow peppers and I’ve harvested several of the green peppers, but I have not produced any yellow or red. When will they be ready to harvest? Also, all the peppers are green, will they turn yellow and red on the plant or should I pick them and let them ripen in the house? Please help!"
-- BJT, Hampton

"It takes time for red and yellow peppers to ripen. It will be another month or so before they are ready. When it comes to peppers be patient - the longer they stay on the vine the richer the color and better the flavor! Plus red & yellow peppers have double the vitamin content when ripe. The best harvest for yellow and red peppers occurs in August, September and October. If you can protect them from an early frost, you can even have fresh peppers in December. Just make sure you pick all fruit before a freeze or frost. Bon appetite!"
