Assistant Plant Buyer
We are currently seeking a candidate to coordinate purchases with vendors of nursery products, place and expedite orders, negotiate with suppliers, process purchasing paperwork and order follow-up. Manage inventory flow and levels as well as gross margin and pricing analysis. Forecast and identify market trends. Coordinate merchandising and display activities as well as support advertising and promotional efforts.

Ideal candidates will be decisive, exhibit sound and accurate judgment. Demonstrate cost consciousness and analytical ability. Must have exceptional organizational and communication skills to prioritize and plan work activities. Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events while managing competing demands. Flexibility in daily work schedule is a must. Computer proficiency is essential with 5+ years retail experience; previous buying experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute the positioning and messaging of all marketing initiatives to include; Magazine, Web, direct mail, print, TV, radio and events.
• Develop and manage the annual corporate marketing strategy and budget.
• Analyze effectiveness of promotions
• Guide development of corporate image to position company for continued growth and leadership in the market.

Requirements:

• At least 5 to 10 years experience in a business to consumer marketing role with emphasis on building customer relationships in specialty retail or similar setting
• High proficiency in database management
• Strong technical skills: Microsoft Office products, Photoshop, Quark, Dream Weaver, and email campaign software
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, attention to detail and accuracy

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing preferred.
