The Yorktown Snowflower Tree
(Chionanthus virginicus or ‘Fringe Tree’)
This native Virginia tree, also known as ‘Old Man’s Beard’, was introduced to English gardens by Mark Catesby, a naturalist in the 1700’s. Today it is widely planted throughout England as an ornamental. In Springtime the fragrant blooms cover the plant and in fall the foliage is a stunning yellow. Add this delight to your garden and celebrate an American Anniversary. |
