Of all of the many Iris species available to gardeners, the
Japanese Iris, Iris ensata, also known as a Beardless Iris, is probably the most dramatic!
The Japanese Iris thrives in average garden soil, and blooms prolifically in partial sun - many don’t mind poor drainage. Some make great candidates for the water garden since they will grow under water!
Japanese Iris, with their thin graceful foliage and artistic flower form, add elegance and a sense of calming peace to the landscape. They are a great garden partner for Hostas, Heucheras and Astilbes as well as Azaleas. Even when not in bloom the attractive, slender leaves add texture to the garden, but of course the most enchanting aspect is the dramatic display of extra large flowers.
If you are looking for an easy care perennial that blooms in midsummer, take a look at Japanese Iris. For a patio paradise, pool or perennial bed it is hard to beat the graceful elegance of Japanese Iris!
